On Thursday October 13th, China Glaze got a chance to be part of the Sue Wong Spring 2012 presentation at Voyer Nightclub in Hollywood, CA. The theme of the show was “Lady or Vamp: An Exploration in Feminine Archetypes”. Guests were asked to come dressed as their favorite angel or devil, which added to the dramatic effects of the venue. Manicurist Melissa Bozant was on hand with her assistant Akemi and they both applied China Glaze High Maintenance on the models. Even Sue Wong wore China Glaze on her nails! Her personal choice was China Glaze China Rouge.

Tadashi has always chosen neutral China Glaze colors for the manicures and toes and this year, he went with China Glaze Nude (skin tone) for the fingers and China Glaze Innocence (sheer pink) for the toes. We wouldn’t want to take away from the gorgeous gowns!

So much polish and so many storage options! I know that there are many, MANY ways to store your polish, so I’m going to talk about some of the most popular ways that I’ve come across and how I personally store my own!

The Ikea Helmer is probably one of the most popular and most talked about storage methods. While I haven’t actually seen one in person, I’ve been told that height-wise, the shelves are the perfect size for most standard polish bottles. Both Christine from Temptalia and Michelle from All Lacquered Up are fans:

The Ikea Helmer has a total of 6 shelves which makes for an outrageous amount of storage. For those of you with a modest amount of polish, this would be great to start off with. The possiblities to grow your collections are practically endless! The Helmer comes in red, silver and white and retails for $39.99 USD.

Another popular storage method is with clear strorage containers that are meant for shoes. These are great because they give you a clear view as to which colors or brands you have in each box. They stack very easily which means they stay out of sight until you need to pull them out. These clear storage boxes from the Container store even come in pack of 20 for $29.80 or 1 for $1.79. Talk about a deal!

If you have any extra ones, they’d be perfect for your shoes (obviously) and other makeup that you need to stash away!

Some of you are lucky enough to have a room in your houses dedicated to makeup! If I were so lucky, I would probably put my polish on display with one of these professional acrylic racks that they use in the nail salons:

These are great because they let you see every single polish that you have! What better way to admire your collection than to have it posted on the wall next to your vanity? It’s not only practical, but it’s also a work of art. Granted, you must have the space for this but if you do, you’re one lucky gal! I found this rack on www.ebay.com under the search title “acrylic polish rack”.

I was browsing the Container Store website and came across some other storage methods that I think would be also be great for polish. While this 5 tiered storage bin is a little pricey at $199 USD, the solid steel construction sounds ultra-durable and the slim design sounds like it would fit almost anywhere!

I personally don’t have a lot of polish at home! The polish that I do have is stored inside a vintage makeup train case like this one:

I found it on ebay and didn’t know what else to use it for, so in went my polish!

How do you store your polish? What do you find effective for the amount of space and frequency that you use your polish on a daily/weekly basis?

Here’s part 2 and the remaining 8 from the China Glaze Holiday 2010 promotion!

First is China Glaze Little Drummer Boy, a deep navy shimmer that is so unique for the holidays! I really liked this color because of how deep the shade of blue is. I only needed 2 coats to get complete coverage and it applied like a dream!

Second, we have China Glaze Sugar Plums. It’s a shimmery burgundy shade with flecks of multi-colored micro glitter in it. If you’re a fan of China Glaze Stella, you will LOVE Sugar Plums! It’s like Stella turned up a couple notches. This was 3 coats but you could definitely get away with two coats. I just like the look of extra coats!

Third, we have China Glaze Mommy Kissing Santa. A deep, shimmery red that is perfect if you love that extra shine. This was 2 coats.

Next up is China Glaze Phat Santa. A creamy, rich red that screams holidays! I really loved the way this applied. The formula was amazing and this was 3 coats.

Here we have China Glaze Ruby Deer. A bright, rich red. A little lighter than Mommy Kissing Santa, so ff you’re looking for a red that’s not too dark but is still vibrant and rich, this is your winner. This was 3 coats.

Next is China Glaze Jolly Holly, which is a deep, forest green shimmer. Really lovely and applied wonderfully. I love how unique this green shade is…it’s not only perfect for the holidays but I think it’s a great green for any other day of the year!

This is China Glaze Mistletoe Kisses. A green glitter that almost has a holographic effect to it. I was a little skeptical because I thought I was going to need tons of coats to get the right coverage, but I was pleasantly surprised when all I needed was 3 coats to get it perfect. I really like this color because it’s very unique as well and is definitely one of the standouts in the crowd.

Last, but not least is China Glaze Mrs. Claus. A red glitter that has a jelly-ish base. This also has a holographic look when applied. Very shimmery and very festive. This was 4 coats, but I added on that extra coat only because I could still see the crud stuck under my nails after the third coat. I’m sure if you have clean nails (mine were grungy from swatching) three coats is all you would need.

A post on the gift sets will be coming up next. Which colors are you going to be picking up now that you’ve seen all 16 of the colors?

Jingle bells…jingle bells! Yes, it’s getting close to that time of year again and China Glaze is here to celebrate the season in style with our 2010 Holiday Promotions! Complete with 16 fun colors that will be sure to spice up your hands and feet for the celebratory season. Here’s some photos and in depth descriptions of the first 8 colors!

First off is China Glaze Jingle Bells. This is a nudish champagne shimmer that would be complimentary on any skin tone. Application is very smooth and that’s needed is 2 coats to get full coverage. I topped this off with a coat of Seche Vite Fast Dry to add extra shine.

Second, we have China Glaze Cheers To You. This is a bright, shimmery silver that reminds me of Christmas tinsel. Application is smooth and two coats is needed as well for desired coverage. What amazed me about all the shimmers was how smoothly they went on, because shimmers can sometimes be a little chunky and goopy.

Third, we have China Glaze Snow. This is a creamy, dense and smooth white polish. I absolutely love it! I think it’s something about the texture. China Glaze Snow is thick without being gloopy and all I needed was two coats of this to make it perfect. I probably wouldn’t wear this alone, but it would be great for French manicures and pedicures, along with being a base color for layering. I know it’s just a white polish, but I really liked this one, a lot! The formula is hands down, amazing.

Next up is China Glaze Peace on Earth. This is an olive-toned green shimmer. This is two coats of polish with a coat of Seche Vite Fast Dry on top. This color is so unique, especially for the Holidays and I’m glad that it was included in the promotion because it’s not a typical “Holiday” green. I was never a huge fan of green polishes until recently and now I can’t get enough! Olive green, lime green, slime green…I’m loving them all!

Here we have China Glaze Frosty. This is a sheer, shimmery white that’s perfect in layers. This has an amazing texture as well and took me three coats for the desired coverage. A lot of you on Twitter were asking me how this compares to China Glaze White-Kwik-Silver from the 2007 Surf Collection. I’ll be sure to swatch both and let everyone know how it turns out!

Next is China Glaze Party Hearty. This has a clear polish base with flecks of green, gold and red glitter. The red glitter is the largest and then the green and gold, respectively. Shown below is 3 coats in the photo below. You can definitely wear this alone, but I think it would look amazing as a top coat. I actually layered this over China Glaze Peace on Earth awhile back and it looked great!

Last, we have China Glaze Naughty or Nice. This is a deep, dark burgundy shade. It is so gorgeous and very dark, almost black. Show below is three coats with a swipe of Seche Vite Fast Dry on top. China Glaze Naughty and Nice was the first color I decided to swatch. I had the intention of taking it off and swatching more colors afterward, but once I put it on, I couldn’t take it off! It’s so gorgeous, I totally fell in love with it! It’s definitely one of my favorite Holiday colors.

The 2010 Holiday promotion will be available starting at the end of October. Which ones are your favorites and what will you be picking up?
